Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Broadband Picks collects, why it is collected and how long it is kept. It applies to broadbandpicks.online and to any message you send to the address published on this site.
1. Who is the data controller
Broadband Picks is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any question about this policy, or to exercise a right described below, write to [email protected]. Postal correspondence is handled from Los Angeles, California.
2. What we collect
Two categories. First, information your browser sends automatically: IP address, user agent, referring page, requested URL and a timestamp. Second, information you volunteer: your email address and message if you write to us, or your email address if you subscribe to updates.
3. Why we process it
Automatic data is processed to serve pages, keep the site reachable and detect abuse. Volunteer data is processed to answer your message or to send the updates you asked for. The legal bases are our legitimate interest in operating a working website, and, for messages and subscriptions, your consent.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The site sets a small number of technical cookies needed to function. Analytics and any embedded third-party service may set their own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the pages will continue to load.
5. Analytics
Aggregate traffic measurement is used to understand which pages are read. Where analytics is enabled it is configured to avoid collecting more than the statistics require, and the resulting reports are aggregate rather than personal.
6. Content delivery and security
This site is served through Cloudflare, which processes connection data so that pages load quickly and hostile traffic is filtered. Cloudflare acts as a processor for this purpose. Traffic between your browser and this site is encrypted with HTTPS.
7. Affiliate links and commercial relationships
Some outbound links are affiliate links. If you follow one and sign up, the operator may pay us a commission. The commission never changes what a page says, and pages carrying affiliate links say so. Where a commercial relationship exists, it is disclosed in the page itself.
8. Marketing communication
Emails are sent only to people who asked for them. Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and the address is removed from the list once the request is processed. We do not send marketing communication to anyone who has not opted in.
9. Sharing and disclosure
Personal data is not sold. It is not shared for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not sell personal information as that phrase is defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act — we honour do not sell requests by confirming that no sale takes place. Data is shared only with the service providers named in this policy and only as far as needed, or where the law compels disclosure.
10. International transfers
Some service providers process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission standard contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
11. Retention
Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded. Correspondence is kept while a query is live and for up to fourteen months afterwards, so that recurring reports can be recognised. Subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe, plus a short period to honour that request. Nothing is kept longer than the purpose requires.
12. Your rights
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, a data subject may request access to personal data, correction of anything inaccurate, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing rests on consent, that consent can be withdrawn at any time. Requests are answered within the statutory period, and you may complain to your national supervisory authority.
13. Children
This site is written for adults comparing household services. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has submitted data, write to us and it will be removed.
14. Security
Traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to administrative systems is restricted and reviewed. No system is perfect, so we keep the data we hold to a minimum, which is the most reliable protection available.
15. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes materially, the revised version replaces this page and the date below is updated. Continued use of the site after a change means the revised policy applies.
